Daniel Hayward, played by Chris O'Neal is a member of The Eagles and one of the main characters in Greenhouse Academy. He is the American counterpart to Daniel Goren.
Appearance[]
Daniel is a young African-American boy, with brown-skin, brown eyes and black stubby hair. He's commonly seen wearing
a black and white Eagles sports-vest, but has been seen wearing a variety of different outfits throughout the show, including a black, white and purple Eagles jacket. Daniel is seen through the basket ball games in a navy blue jacket with eagels on the front and Hayward on the back
Personality[]
Daniel is very misunderstood, and during Season 1 he acted as if he was better than everyone and pretended not to care about what people thought, but in reality, he really cares. He is very athletic, and in great physical shape. Originally, he was the Captain of the Eagles before the incident with the taser bar, and was considered a born leader. Daniel is also very competitive, and is constantly trying to win, even if it is not a competition. His competitive spirit is what drives him, and is part of what made him a good team captain.
Season 1[]
Daniel and Brooke are together for the full season of season 1. Daniel makes his first appearance in the opening episode of; Pilot, where he's seen talking to a potential new Eagles member; Tall Tyler, who both he and Parker are trying to get through the exam, so that they can have him play for the Eagles basketball team. He gives Tyler the answers to the written entry exam, that Parker had managed to extract from the Raven's files. Later in the episode, Daniel comes face to face with Alex, who reveals himself to be a big fan of his.
Daniel however just ignores Alex, before he hears the exam announcement over the loud speaker, just as Hayley buts into the conversation to try and defend Alex. Daniel then just warns Alex that there were hundreds of applicants, but only one spot on the Eagles team. After this, Daniel is seen in the basketball court with Parker, who reports that Tyler hadn't managed to pass the written exam. Daniel reappears later, during Alex's physical exam, watching Alex shoot hoops, before offering to play Alex in a friendly one-on-one. During the match, Alex is easily able to out-play Daniel, so Daniel starts playing mind-games with Alex by bringing up his dead mother; Ryan. This causes Alex to freak-out, with Daniel then playing victim, in an attempt to get Alex thrown out.
After Alex and Hayley are accepted into the Greenhouse, Daniel asks Alex over to the Eagles clubhouse, after the annual opening ceremony. In the next episode; The Opening Challenge, Daniel can be seen cheering on Parker during an arm-wrestling match with Alex, to which Parker would eventually lose. After the game, Daniel then cuddles his girlfriend; Brooke as she tells him that Alex had needed his big sister; Hayley to tell him a bed-time story while reading Alex's Louie texts. After Sophie had taken embarrassing photos of Alex, Daniel calls Alex an embarrassment to the Eagles in the morning, while assuring Parker that he'd find a way to get rid of Alex.
Later in that morning, Daniel announces to his fellow Eagles, that Louie had issued the year's opening challenge, getting them to head to the classroom. While there, Daniel asks Louis what the prize was, before Louis tells him that that wasn't important and continues explaining the challenge. Daniel then helps to coordinate his team, while figuring out the riddle, leading his team to the beach, once Brooke managed to figure out the riddle. Daniel and his Eagles arrive at the beach, alongside the Ravens in fierce competition. While at the beach, Daniel tries to hide the shrapnel injury that he had in his leg, before being accompanied by Brooke. When Alex tries to pep-his team up, moving in front of Daniel and Brooke, Daniel gets annoyed at the fact that Alex was already giving them orders. Later after the challenge had finished, Daniel shows great dismay at his team's loss and later remarks that Alex was a traitor after he refused to take the key from Hayley, when she offered it to him.
In Black Smoke, we find out that Daniel was the one who found the taser and that his injury was due to the taser barb. Judy Hayward bribes the doctor for the evidence in which he replies that it has been sent to a lab. Judy calls someone on her phone soon after and it is figured out that the police's car exploded. Judy is very happy and Daniel is too. Brooke Osmond gets suspicious and tries to figure out what happened. In Captain Material, Daniel gets replaced as captain by Sophie to which Daniel doesn't take very well. In Guilt Free Cupcakes, Daniel uses methods that aren't fair to earn money. Sophie, annoyed and angry at Daniel tells him that he can't do this. Daniel gets very angry at Sophie and doesn't talk to anyone. In Great Scott and L.D.R, Daniel goes to the dance with Brooke but doesn't do anything with her. This causes Brooke to get very upset and dance with Alex. Daniel couldn't take any more of it so he flips a table and breaks up with Brooke.
Season 2[]
In The Client (episode), Brooke gets hypnotized and returns back to Daniel. Daniel doesn't think anything of it but Alex gets confused. Brooke and Daniel stay together just like this. In A Day Off, Daniel suspects that Brooke may have been hypnotized and goes to the old biology lab to look for a book. On the panel however, he realizes that the last person that checked out the book was Marcus. Just as he finds out, Judy and Marcus initiate their test earthquake. Daniel gets trapped in the old biology lab with many things tumbling over him. In Meant to Be, Brooke finds Daniel coming out of the lab and is worried about him. His mother then calls Brooke which leaves Daniel questioned. Brooke picks up her Louie and passes it to Daniel. Judy at first only asks about Brooke which makes Daniel even more confused. Brooke then tells him later that her father invited Daniel and Judy over for dinner.
In Surfing Lessons, he fakes an ankle injury in order to go through his mother's things. Just then, he hears something ring. He pulls out a weird device from his mother's bag. He picks up the phone and to his surprise, Hayley Woods was on the other side of the phone. In The Workshop, Daniel works with Hayley to figure out what is going on. He used weird excuses to get out of class which made Alex suspicious. Alex then thought that Daniel and Hayley were dating. Daniel and Hayley managed to get a chapter on dehypnotization from Marcus' office and he accidentally left behind his quantum marker. Marcus finds the marker and finds out that someone wrote the word "Marcus". Marcus decrypts it and finds out that Hayley wrote it.
In The Spiral, Daniel and Hayley try to dehypnotize Brooke with the help of Max and Jackie. However, when they tried to dehypnotize her, they accidentally left her in Catatonic Shock. Marcus then gives them the keyword, "Eureka". Daniel and Hayley manage to bring her back. In More Than a Hunch, Brooke gets interrogated by Daniel and Hayley to figure out what happened. In A Born Leader, Daniel and Brooke manage to retrieve Emma's chess set and they try to investigate her disappearance. Then, Team Eureka was born.
In Bad Decisions, Daniel and Alex stall the basketball game in order to make sure that Judy doesn't set off an earthquake. In Home, Daniel and Leo both go to the cave to save Hayley and Ryan. They both grab the bomb that Kyle set off and throw it into the ocean. Daniel then ends up confessing his love for Hayley and kisses her.
Season 3[]
In The Hike, it is shown that Daniel and Hayley are officially dating. In the opening scene, we see Daniel and Hayley calling each other "Babe" as one couple would. Hayley then asks Daniel to come over and they both study together at the Ravens' dorm. During the hike, Daniel gave Hayley a sweatshirt with the Eagles insignia on it. The following morning, after Leo and Becca confront the Eagles, Daniel pulls Hayley towards his side and burns the Eagles' flag. Hayley then decides to switch over to the Eagles after copious amounts of fighting between the 2 groups. However, when Daniel and Leo go to get the final flag, Daniel tells him that Hayley is with him and so he already won. This causes Sophie to come in and break up the fight. But when she tries to, she slips and falls off a cliff.
In The Interrogation, Daniel accompanies Hayley to the hospital and they both sit in the waiting room. They both use romantic gestures and Leo notices leaving him quite upset. In The Perfect Solution, Daniel and Leo find out that Coach Davies messed with the kids in the woods. Shocked, Daniel and Leo tell everyone in the Greenhouse. Everyone tries to keep it a secret with both teams agreeing saying that the hike was on them. Hayley, frustrated tells Daniel that he did the wrong thing and that she couldn't lie to her dad. In Your New Best Friend, Daniel visits Hayley's new house and stops by to pick her up for a run. Hayley smiles and goes with Daniel. While they are both running, Leo looks at them and tells Daniel that she will get tired in 2 minutes. Daniel shrugs it off and does push-ups with Hayley.
In Old Trophies, Daniel gets upset that he lost the basketball game. Hayley tries to cheer him up but he tells her that he doesn't want the cheerleading spirit. After Brooke explains the reason to why the game was lost, Daniel comes at her very strong proceeding to tell her "You know what something like that can do to an athlete". In A Piece of Moon Rock, Daniel and Hayley continue to get closer to each other. In The Hidden Flag, Hayley tells the Eagles to try a different strategy while playing capture the flag. Daniel assures her that they are using the best strategy to which she says "Ok". After the Eagles lose, Hayley looks at Daniel and the rest of the members sulking over their loss. She tells them to stop in which they reply that they can never accept a loss. Hayley continues to tell Daniel "The world will be a sad place if you don't understand that".
In The Beeps, Daniel sees Hayley and Leo together which makes him frustrated. Hayley tells Daniel that they weren't doing anything and that she didn't even like him. Hayley shows Daniel the secret room in Jason's closet to which he is surprised. He tells Hayley and Brooke that him and Leo will take down the beeping sound. However, Coach Davies threatens to kick him off his team, resulting in Hayley going in instead of Daniel. Daniel leaves quickly after to go to the room in which he and Brooke get stuck in. At that time, the cave explodes.
Season 4[]
In Rock by Rock, Daniel, still stuck in the closet with Brooke screams for help. Fortunately, Coach Davies hears Daniel and Brooke and frees them from the closet. Carter then procceds to lecture Daniel and Brooke about this entire event. As the rescue team tries to save Hayley, they don't listen to Daniel's suggestions which leaves him very worried. In The Quick One, Hayley comes up from the hole and Daniel is very happy. She hugs everyone but soon asks for Leo. Back at the hospital, Daniel tells Hayley that he was the one that should have gone in the cave and not her. Daniel then receives a call from Max and Emma telling him how to save Leo. Daniel runs in the room and tells Doctor Hovey. After Leo gets saved, however, Hayley comes in and talks to him and looks at him a way that she never looked at Daniel. Daniel notices and is a bit upset.
In A Not Totally Bad Person, Daniel and Hayley visit Leo. Daniel gives Leo a slice of pizza to which he refuses. Daniel still leaves it on his night table in case he gets hungry. Daniel tells Hayley that she needs to get stronger after what she went through. Daniel goes to throw out a pizza box, but Hayley decides to take it instead. Hayley then tells Daniel what happened and Daniel tells her about when he got his taser injury. Hayley tells him that his injury was different. Daniel brings up that they are hosting a run for Leo with the rest of the Eagles in which Hayley responds that he should go. He says no, but when Hayley tells him, he goes. He then sees Hayley sleep. In Gummy Bears, Daniel talks to Leo and tells him that he was very rude to Hayley. He then asks him to at least be nice to her before he leaves. Later in the episode, Daniel gets tickets to watch a Fast and Furious movie with Hayley. They both go out to the movie. When Hayley decides to leave to use the bathroom, Daniel takes her Louie and sees a message from Leo. He then proceeds to delete the message from her Louie.
In Cortinarius Orellanus, Daniel and Hayley try to set up decorations for the tech conference. Daniel acts very nice towards Hayley but mainly looks at her Louie. Daniel tells Alex about what happened and Alex tells him that he needed to tell her otherwise he wouldn't be able to forgive himself. Daniel nods and goes back to the clubhouse. Later at night, when Daniel tries to tell Hayley, she faints on the couch. In Hundred Percent, Daniel helps up Hayley and makes sure that she was alright. When Daniel and Hayley decorate, Hayley sends a message to Leo in which he sends back a message with emojis. Daniel and Hayley figure out that something was wrong with Leo and so they go to Leo's rehab center. In Room 205, Hayley finds out about the deleted message and gets angry at Daniel. She then tells him that he was jealous and that what he did was wrong. She then proceeds to break up with Daniel only to drag him into saving Leo. Daniel and Hayley end up saving Leo and take him home. In The Client, Daniel tries to get access into the Greenhouse. However, it doesn't work out and he goes to try to get Hayley and Leo. He then sees that Eric held them captive. He fights Eric and pushes him off a cliff and then lets his friends go. He then takes off the bomb and he runs into the Greenhouse. He with the help of Team Eureka takes down the client. He then goes on a camping trip planned by Leo and Sophie.
